Aosta Valley (Valle d’Aosta in Italian) is a region where you could spend your pleasant holiday in the mountains; it is the smallest region and it is characterized by only one province, Aosta, which is also the capital region.
Near this resort there are famous cities like Courmayeur, Cervinia and Gressoney; this skiing resort are equipped of modern skiing facilities where you could spend wonderful weeks’ ski holiday with your family.
The Aosta Valley is a region completely surrounding by Alps, here there are huge mountains like Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa where you can do mountain hikes plunged in nature or do some sports like trekking, free climbing or rafting. In addition, round the land of Aosta Valley there are many natural parks where it is possible to admire the fauna and flora of this region.
In past times, Aosta Valley was conquered by Romans, Ostrogoths and Byzantines; people that influenced a lot the realisation of monuments and buildings of the city of Aosta. By visiting this resort you will have the opportunity to admire the “Arco d’Augusto”, the “Porta Pretoria” and the Theatre; these are works that belong to the roman period.
In order to taste very good specialities, you could go in some typical restaurant and ask for the fondue or the “cotoletta alla valdostana” (cutlet with cheese and ham).
The economy of this region is especially based on tourism and farming, in fact the land of Aosta Valley is for the most part mountainous and so it is inadequate to practise agriculture.
