Lombardy (Lombardia in Italian) is one of the most industrialised of North-Italy. A productive land where there are many important businesses, fashion shops and financial companies.

 

Milan is the regional capital and the other important cities are: Bergamo, Brescia, Como, Cremona, Lecco, Lodi, Mantua, Pavia, Sondrio and Varese.

 

Milan is one of the most renowned cities all over the world; here you could find almost everything: boutiques of the biggest fashion designer (Valentino, Armani, Ferrè), the most important companies, the Italian exchange, the trendiest places of Lombardy and more. Milan is also visited each year by a lot of tourist that are attracted here by the numerous aspects of this city; here you could admire monuments of great historical importance like the Duomo (the symbol of this city) or the Sforza caste, and also buildings in which works of inestimable value are preserved like the Pinacotheca of Brera, a museum in which you can admire works of famous artists like Leonardo. But Milan is also a city of entertainments; you could go to Teatro alla Scala and assist to an opera or go to a concert of rock music in the big stadium of San Siro.

 

Bergamo is a city that has a peculiarity; it is divided in two parts: high and low. In these are it is possible to admire huge palaces like Palazzo Vecchio or also the citadel and the Duomo.

 

Brescia is renowned for its land that contains a great part of Garda Lake and for that it is visited by many tourists; other resorts that you can find in the province of Brescia are Sirmione and Desenzano.

 

The city of Como offers to tourist a variety of entertainments and it also known for its lake, its beautiful hilly landscapes and also for famous villages like Cernobbio.

 

Lecco offers to tourists picturesque landscapes like the one of Colico or Lario and where you have the opportunity to do some sport activities such as trekking or bike.

 

Sondrio belongs to that area that includes the Valtellina, a mountain resort where you will find important ski resorts like Livigno or Bormio where you could spend your weeks’ ski holiday in modern and comfortable hotel facilities that will allow to spend your vacation with the family in the best way; in the province of Sondrio there is also the famous mountain of Aprica.

 

Varese is called the garden city and this is due to the beautiful green area that surround this land. This province is also rich in lakes; two main lakes are that of Varese and Lake Maggiore, where you could allow yourself a plunge or to lie in the sun in order to give beauty to your skin.

 

The city of Pavia is known for its prestigious university and for being land where there are historical buildings like the Certosa of Pavia and the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.

 

Lodi is maybe the less known city, but it has beautiful interesting sights like the square of Vittoria and the Church of San Francesco.

 

Cremona is the city that is known for it delicious nougat, and the city of Mantua that in the medieval period was one of the most important duchies thanks to the presence of the well-known noble family of Gonzaga.

This region was a conquest of various populations: Etruscans, Romans, Longobards, Franks and others. These people had a great influence throughout the years on architecture and monuments; now you could admire their results in many sights of inestimable value.

This land was able to defend itself and today it has a productive economy also thanks to its numerous industries and agriculture; Lombardy, in fact is one of the most productive regions of Italy.
