Apulia (Puglia in Italian) is a region loved by tourists especially for its splendid sea, here you could plunge in the warm and clear water and to enjoy of the peacefulness that transmit this land. Bari is the regional capital and other renowned cities are Barletta, Andria, Trani, Brindisi, Foggia, Lecce and Taranto.

Bari is a city that is visited each year from many tourists both for its clear sea and for its cultural and arts itinerary that offers its land. Visiting this city you will be able to admire finds of great value that are preserved in many museums, one of the most important is the archaeological one located in Bari which preserves fine chinaware; you should also admire the basilica of San Nicola and the famous Norman-Suevian Castle, and do not forget to enter inside the Petruzzelli Theatre, that was damaged by the big fire and after many year is returned to its original splendour.

The city of Barletta is well-known for its seashore, there you will find clean beaches and clear sea and in its old city centre you could admire historical buildings like Palace of Marra or Cathedral Santa Maria Maggiore.

Brindisi is a city full of interesting sights for tourists, like the Aragonese Caste or the monument dedicated to the Sailor of Italy; there are also churches to be visited like the Church of Sacro Cuore or the one of Santa Maria of Angeli.

Looking at the province of Lecce you will find wonderful beaches where with the warm sun you could to tone up your body or you could also admire little villages like Castro Marina that offers the possibility to visit its caves.

Taranto is the perfect resort for those couples who want to spend their lovely holidays with their children, and visiting this city you will have to taste the Manduria, an excellent wine that is produced here.

Another resort to be visited is Ostuni, also called “the white city” due to the white walls of the houses in the old town. Other interesting sights are the museums in which many historical works and finds are preserved such as in the National archaeological museum of Taranto, the Civico archaeological museum of Canosa and the Provincial Pinacotheca of Bari.
If you are a lover of nature this region has parks and nature reserves where you could appreciate the fauna and flora and admire animals of rare beauty; some renowned and most visited parks are the Regional park of Bosco of Incoronata and that one of Gargano.

In addition to these places you could also go to the well-known Tremiti islands where the sea is so clear that it has received the Blue Flag recognition for those seaside resorts with clear sea).
Looking to the cuisine, you could do to typical restaurants or farmhouse and taste the delicious specialities of this region like, for example, orecchiette (pasta shells) with meat sauce or risotto with shellfish and mussels. To drink there are excellent wines like the Martina Franca or the San Severo; other typical products are the clementine of the Gulf of Taranto, the Femminiello Lemon of Gargano, the bread of Altamura and the delicious Terra d’Otranto olive oil.

Apulia is a land that was conquered by Romans, Normans, Spanish and others; it is possible to see their influence on these civilizations in the numerous buildings of this region. But there are also finds that go back to the prehistoric period and these are the trulli at Alberobello, buildings with conic stone roof house that was always built with the same technique during the times.
